Tanzania: Central Diocese Archives

The archives was established in the year 2010 under Tanzania Archival Law. It is church archive which keeps church records, social and some political records.

The archives is located at Singida Region - central zone of Tanzania, with in Singida region the are many diverse culture (due to economic and political factors) but originally three tribes; nyaturu, nyiramba and nyisanzu.

As I introduced earlier, this is Church archive it provided mandate from the Tanzania government through archival law (archival law of 2002).

The archive is under Archival Manager, through secretary office

Archival materials are restricted in scope, it is only found within and not for sale or borrowing.

The archival building is based on architectural standards with preventive considerations of natural calamities, air conditioner and other preventive measures

Historical records and many other materials are kept especially from the beginning of the diocese.

Variety of handwritten documents and books are found

8:00am to 16:00pm from Monday to Friday

The archives is working under Tanzania Archival Law of 2002, archival users are restricted to scan or photocopy any documents without permission from responsible authority.

Archives is Located at Msalaba Mrefu in Singida Region nearby Namphua Football peach, along Mwanza road.

Most useful language used is swahili language and in part English, variety of materials are found; documents, audio-visual etc. Which is necessary for researchers to collect different informations.

Photocopies of different photos are available but restricted for archival use only

Archival place is wealth for studying, presence of conference room nearby and most necessarily needs.
